quintessence – Johanna Engel (soprano), Jutta Birkigt (alto), Lutz Kaminski (tenor), Daniel Berg (baritone) and Ralph Baumann (bass). These five singers congregated from the four winds – and from even more musical styles – to form quintessence in 1999.

For almost 25 years the quintet performs "the essence" of music – singing! Besides their love for a-cappella-music the singers share their joy for performing together on stage. High musical quality in conjunction with a whole bunch of subtle irony attracts and entertains every audience.

Over the years quintessence has developed its very individual style: five voices shining in ensemble harmony as well as with their solo parts.

The musicians put much emphasis on the diversity of their repertoire presented with subtle humor in a very entertaining way: funny songs alternate with madrigals, touching ballads and harmonically sophisticated jazz pieces are followed by pop classics sung in exceptional arrangements.

The quintessence shows stand for voices and entertainment at the highest level. Tears of emotion and, above all, of laughter are guaranteed.

Over the last years the ensemble has built up its reputation by many shows and by participation at several a-cappella-festivals – unplugged in small churches or on the large festival stage.
